Traditionally nonconformist

There is one wine which has been celebrated for centuries, lauded by popes, kings and writers who have left tales of the wine's greatness, for example the traditional nonconformist himself Rabelais (1494-1553), a great admirer of Mireval wines; it is of course Muscat. Texts bear witness to the trade of Muscat under the Roman Empire and doctors during the Renaissance recommended it as an elixir for life. This source of well-being was even recognised by the Tax Office under the old regime, as Languedoc Muscats were exempt from taxes as they were considered "medicinal".

The winemakers at Cave de Rabelais continue this millennium-old tradition which began when the Greeks and then the Romans introduced the vines to Languedoc.
The development of the Muscat grape on this very old land and the vinification methods bear witness to a traditional and original savoir-faire which has been complemented with the latest in technological techniques.

When one is proud of one's past, one can look confidently towards the future.
